All types of Product Testing
Screening is for guidance and for the elimination of poor, or inappropriate, products; however, business decisions should be based on more rigorous testing of finalized products against agreed action standards.
To get the purest measures of product performance then monadic, or solus methods, are appropriate. However, for a relative measure against competition say, then paired comparison or sequential monadic would be used. Decision tests will most likely be in home (if that is the normal environment). However, if longer term product performance is an issue, then it may be appropriate to give consumers several samples to test acceptance over extended usage.
Action standards (e.g. how much better or worse than the benchmark is required) should be agreed prior to the commencement of research and they will determine the sample size needed.
S.D. Research can assist clients in understanding and setting meaningful action standards on purchase intention or preference.
